Turkish Apple Tea
This twist on Turkish mint tea pairs well over ice with chicken meals, and can be used as a dessert tea instead of coffee. The light, sweet fruity flavor is loved by children as well. When you make this with a sugar substitute and green tea, you have a beverage that is far healthier than soft drinks or sugary teas. To make this you need green loose tea, fresh peppermint tea leaves, an apple, and honey. Peel the apple and place the peels to the side. You’ll use these later. If you sprinkle the apple with a little lemon juice you’ll keep it from browning as you brew the tea. Place 5 tablespoons of the loose green tea, and 2 cups of the peppermint in a pot on the stove. Add water and bring to a boil. Once the water is boiling, add the apple peels. You want to stir this frequently so the peels don’t sink the bottom and the green tea won’t scald. Allow this to simmer for about 10 minutes. Cut the rest of the apple up and either add it to the glasses you intend to serve in, or use as a garnish for the Turkish mint tea presentation. This tea is great hot or cold. Allow your guests to add honey to taste after you serve.
Turkish Chocolate Mint Latte
Another great twist on the Turkish mint tea latte. Even though this is called a latte, it won’t contain any coffee. To make this you’ll brew the mint base as you would in the above recipe. Foam some milk and place it to the side. When the tea is done brewing, strain it so the peppermint and green tea leaves are removed. Fill a coffee mug halfway up with the mint tea. Pour the foamed milk over the top filling the other half. Top the drink with chocolate syrup. This Moroccan mint tea twist is a great dessert tea that anyone will love.
Blueberry Turkish Mint Tea
This Turkish mint tea is great on a hot summer day when served over ice. The blueberries pack a healthy punch and won’t require you to add additional sweeteners to the drink. You’ll want to brew the tea hot, using half green and half mint tea leaves. You can use peppermint or spearmint tea for this recipe. During the last 2 minutes of brewing, toss in a handful of fresh blueberries. This will allow the juices from the blueberries to infuse with the mint herbal tea. Leftover blueberries can be used as garnish, so be sure to set a handful aside for this. When the tea is done brewing, strain the leaves and berries out. Toss some blueberries in a tall glass, fill with ice, and pour the tea over the ice. For an extra sweet treat consider freezing some blueberries. This way you can add frozen blueberries to the glass along with the ice for a nicer presentation. You can use raspberries, blackberries, and even strawberries for this Turkish mint tea recipe.
